Mozilla Thunderbird configuration

Thunderbird is an email software that has the same possibilities as Outlook.

Configuration

1. Unzip the downloaded file.
  • On Windows: This step is not necessary
  • On Linux :
bunzip2 thunderbird-3.0.tar.bz2
tar -xf thunderbird-3.0.tar.bz2

2. RStaratn the software.
3. Menu >> File >> New >> Mail account:



4. Choose "Email account" ("Compte courrier électronique") and click the Next button ("Suivant").



5. Include your name and email address and click the Next button ("Suivant").



6. Select POP and specify the server name below:

pop3.yourdomain.com or directly our server ns0.ovh.net (0, the number, not the letter "o") and click on the Next button ("Suivant").



7. Enter your user name, this is your e-mail address (eg contact@domain.com) and then click Next button ("Suivant").



8. Once this part is completed, you must return to the account settings:
Edit >> Account Settings >> Outgoing Server SMTP >> Edit

Specify the following parameters in the port 587 and use a username and password to connect to the outgoing server:



The password will be requested next.
To test if this works, we recommend you send an email to yourself.


Reminder: Connection settings

  • Incoming email server [POP3]: ns0.ovh.net or or pop3.yourdomain.com (port 110)
  • Outgoing email server [SMTP]: ns0.ovh.net or smtp.yourdomain.com (port 587)
  • Username [login]: user your email address (ex: contact@yourdomain.com)
  • Password [password]: use the password for this account

Warning!



It is imperative you use the SMTP port in 587 and check that uses authentication to connect to the outgoing server.
This is the outgoing authentication port for all ISPs.
