Outlook Express configuration





Introduction

This guide will help you set up your POP accounts (email addresses) with Outlook Express.
Just follow the steps. Email is a major reason for the popularity of Internet. Indeed, communicating through the net, that is send files and chat in real time, mostly written is done around the world. All with ease, speed and cost unmatched so far.


The steps

1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Click on the menu Tools and Accounts....



3. Click on the Add button.
4. add an email account.



5. Enter your first & last name.
6. Click the Next button.



7. Check "I have an email address I would like to use."
8. Enter the email address: postmaster@yourdomain.com
9. Click the Next button.



10. My incoming mail server is a server: POP3
11. Incoming mail (POP3) or ns0.ovh.net pop3.yourdomain.tld
(put the number 0 not the letter O)
12. Outgoing mail server (SMTP) or ns0.ovh.net smtp.yourdomain.tld
(put the number 0 not the letter O)
13. Click the Next button.



14. Enter Account Name: your e-mail (Ex: postmaster@yourdomain.com)
15. Enter a password: xxxxxx
16. Click the Next button.
17. Click the Finish button.
18. Click the Close button.



19. Go back in your account settings, then on the name of the account.

  • In the "Servers", make sure the box "My server requires authentication" is checked and that in the "Settings ..." you specified a user name (this is your e-mail) and your password.

  • In the "Advanced" make sure that the outbound port as "Outgoing mail (SMTP): 587"

20. Click on Tools => Send and Receive => Receive all





The errors
  • Can not log on to the incoming mail server POP3. I have the following error:



Solution:

you should check the settings:

- Incoming mail server (POP3): ns0.ovh.net or mail.yourdomain.tld or pop3.yourdomain.tld
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP) or ns0.ovh.net smtp.yourdomain.tld
- User name (login): use your e-mail address (ex: postmaster@youdomain.com)
- Password (password): use the password for that account

If the problem persists, change the password via your manager: How to change the email password?


Attention!


It is imperative that you use port 587 with SMTP authentication and check to connect to the outgoing server.
This is the outgoing port authentication for all ISPs.


  • NB: the .tld is an indication, this is just a generic extension to avoid writing. com, .net, .org, etc...
