DNS configuration on dedicated server

Why?
You have a domain name, and want to point to your dedicated server. Once the changes made, your server will be responsible for the domain name.

How?


For dedicated servers:


  • If the domain is at OVH:

Go to Manager, then select your domain name and go to the section Domain & DNS, DNS Servers. The next page lets you specify the new DNS.

Put:
nsXXXX.ovh.net (or aaa-bbb-ccc-ddd.ovh.net if you use an ip failover or reverse ip dns server primary)
sdns1.ovh.net (in secondary)

  • If the domain is with another Registrar:

Go to the interface that is provided by your registrar and change the DNS.

Put:
nsXXXX.ovh.net (or aaa-bbb-ccc-ddd.ovh.net if you use an ip failover or reverse ip dns server primary)
sdns1.ovh.net and (in secondary)



For RPS servers:


  • If the domain is at OVH:

Go to Manager, then select your domain name and go to the section Domain & DNS, DNS Servers. The next page lets you specify the new DNS.

Put:
rXXXX.ovh.net (or aaa-bbb-ccc-ddd.ovh.net if you use an ip failover or reverse ip dns server primary)
sdns1.ovh.net (in secondary)

  • If the domain is with another Registrar:

Go to the interface that is provided by your registrar and change the DNS.

Put:
rXXXX.ovh.net (or aaa-bbb-ccc-ddd.ovh.net if you use an ip failover or reverse ip dns server primary)
sdns1.ovh.net and (in secondary)


For Kimsufi servers:


  • If the domain is at OVH:

Go to Manager, then select your domain name and go to the section Domain & DNS, DNS Servers. The next page lets you specify the new DNS.

Put:
ksXXXX.kimsufi.com (or aaa-bbb-ccc-ddd.ovh.net if you use an ip failover or reverse ip dns server primary)
ns.kimsufi.com (in secondary)

  • If the domain is with another Registrar:

Go to the interface that is provided by your registrar and change the DNS.
Put:
ksXXXX.kimsufi.com (or aaa-bbb-ccc-ddd.ovh.net if you use an ip failover or reverse ip dns server primary)
ns.kimsufi.com (in secondary)

After confirmation, you need to install your domain on the server and on ns.ovh.net.
